The researcher Déborah García checks the “correspondence” of aesthetics and chemical characteristics in works such as the Mural da Canteira

“Depending on the time you visit the place, the tone changes, shines differently. The materials interact with the light, change the color and generate what the author called roughness, with the temperature and sound of the materials”, tells the chemist and disseminator Déborah García Bello about the Mural da Canteira, a work located on the avenue of Arteixo. García analyzes the selection of materials in the work as a sign that “the artistic intuition” of the creator, Leopoldo Nóvoa, “has scientific correspondence” in terms of “temperature” or “sound”, analysis embodied in the article entitled The quarry mural: architecture, science and art against global warming, carried out together with the postdoctoral researcher of the University of Coruña and the University of Cambridge Juan Manuel Bermúdez.
